Hi Achievers, for many, skipping a meal or two seems like the easiest and most logical way to lose fat. Other than that, you might also find that you are likely to skip your meals when you are having a busy day.

However, what really happens to your body when you skip a meal?

When you skip a meal or two, you would tend to feel hungry and end up eating more for your next meal or the next day. Skipping breakfast? Chances are you will overeat during lunch. Having a late dinner? You’ll probably end up having a sinfully delicious but heavy Malaysian supper after work.

3 Reasons You Should Avoid Skipping Your Meals

Lack Of Nutrients

If you skip a meal, your body might not receive enough nutrients. Eating regularly ensures that you consume sufficient proteins, fibres, and micronutrients (Vitamin, Mineral, Fibres etc). This keeps your body healthy and help you burn fat and build muscle optimally.

Lack Of Energy

When you skip a meal, you will consume less calories and might not have enough energy for your work outs, leading to a drop in performance. For instance, last week you were able to do 10 push up but today you only manage to do 5 push up. You might not be able to lift heavier weights to maintain your muscle mass.

Slows Down Metabolism

Skipping a meal also slows down your metabolism rate. Your body has an amazing survival instinct. When you do not eat for twenty hours, your body starts to preserve food to prevent starvation and this slows down your metabolism.

What You Should Do Instead Of Skipping Meals

Increase Single Ingredient Food

Instead of skipping meals, opt to eat healthier. Consume more single ingredient food, which will fuel your body with all the necessary nutrients to function at your optimum. This includes food such as meat, eggs, fruits, whole grains, beans, and nuts.

Have Your Meals On Time

Having your breakfast, lunch, and dinner on time will ensure that you provide consistent nutrients to your body and prevent common problems like gastritis.

Stay Active

Finally, be active. Staying active throughout the day helps to boost your metabolism and burn more fat. Watch this video on how your body burns calories with walking.
